Tyler Love

One of World Pro’s founders and now the school’s President, Tyler brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the World Pro team. Tyler has taught goaltenders for more than a decade and has established himself as one of North America’s top goaltending coaches. Tyler has been instrumental in elevating a number of goaltenders from beginner to the NHL, AHL, WHL and College levels. He also continues to train many of them today. Tyler demonstrates a clear understanding of the goaltending position and is second to none when it comes to adapting his teaching to his student’s strengths and weaknesses. Tyler is currently the goaltending consultant for the Portland Winter Hawks (WHL) and the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA). He also has previously worked with the St.Louis Blues (NHL) and the Under 20 National Junior Program.

J.F. Martel

J.F. joined the World Pro team in 2005 and quickly established himself as one of Western Canada’s premier goaltending instructors. J.F. has been instrumental in developing World Pro’s new crop of goaltending prospects and his views and opinions on the position have helped World Pro reach new levels of excellence in our on ice teaching. When working with goaltenders, J.F. stresses hard work, the importance of details and the simplicity in the movements and execution. J.F. is currently the goaltending consultant for the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL).

Taylor Dakers
Senior Head Instructor
Vancouver Area Representative

 

After playing 4 seasons in the WHL with the Kootenay Ice and 2 seasons in the AHL with the Worcester Sharks, Taylor was forced into retirement due to hip injuries. Since then, he has devoted his time to analyzing the most effective goaltending techniques and the best ways to get consistent improvement from his students. Taylor’s experience in hockey gives him a great understanding of the game and what it takes to succeed. Taylor is currently the goaltending consultant for the Everett Silvertips (WHL).   

Derek Purfield
Senior Instructor

Derek joined the World Pro team in 2009 after spending more than 5 years teaching goaltenders in interior British Columbia. His dedication and love for teaching the position have quickly made him of Alberta’s top goaltending instructors. Being a keen student of the game Derek constantly looks for new ways to make his students better. When working with goaltenders Derek uses a high-energy approach. He emphasizes hard work and the importance of developing a strong compete level. Derek is currently the goaltending consultant for  AAA Midget Calgary Buffalos (AMHL). In addition, he works with numerous skill development programs in southern Alberta.

Mike Bergren
Senior Instructor

Mike joined the World Pro team in 2009 and had an immediate impact on our team. Prior to joining World Pro, Mike instructed for five years with the Okanagan Hockey School, with three of those years as their head goaltending instructor. Additionally, Mike has also worked with Hockey Canada, helping with the development of minor hockey programs and skills camps. Mike believes in developing strong relationships with his students, which in turn allows him to the get the most of them in terms of effort and commitment. Mike has a very good understanding of the position and stresses the importance of athleticism and hard work when working with goaltenders. Mike is currently the goaltending consultant for the Olds Grizzlys (AJHL).

Pat Conacher
Junior Instructor (Full Time)

 

Pat Conacher joined our staff in the summer of 2011  as an instructor but is very familiar with our school, having trained with World Pro during his playing days. Pat played his minor hockey in the Calgary Royals organization, and went on playing for 3 different teams at the Junior “A” level. Pat also played for Concordia university College team and had a brief stint in the ECHL. Following his playing career, Pat has coached at the AA Bantam level and is now a scout for the Victoria Royals (WHL). Pat was promoted to our full time staff in December 2011 and is looking forward to dedicating himself to helping goalies get to the next level.

Matt Korchmar
Senior Instructor
Vancouver/Lower Mainland Representative

 

After a successful Midget career in Alberta, Matt went on to produce  a 4 yearJr A career with Alberni Valley, Lloydminster, and Fort McMurray. Since then, Matt has worked closely with NHL and WHL goalie coaches strengthening his knowledge and developing as a coach. Through his experience he has obtained a clear understanding of the position and is extremely capable of adapting his teaching to his student’s strengths and weaknesses. Matt believes in developing strong relationships with his students, which in turn allows him to get the most of his goaltenders in terms of effort and commitment. He stresses attention to detail and simplicity in movement. Currently Matt is the Head Goaltender Instructor at the Arbutus Club in Vancouver, BC.

Robin McColl
Junior Instructor

 

Robin joins World Pro Goaltending having trained with organizational President Tyler Love since 2001. Robin’s instruction is consistent with the educational philosophy that World Pro teaches. He emphasizes the importance of process, leading to desired outcomes. Presently he is enrolled in a Kinesiology Bachelors Degree program at the University of Calgary. In 2011 Robin was the goaltending consultant for the Sutter Cup Finalists, Royals Gold (AMMHL). He is currently the goaltending consultant for the Columbia Valley Rockies (KIJHL).

Scott Ismond
Junior Instructor
United States Midwest Representative

 

Scott has been a student of World Pro for the last 10 years.  Scott just finished his 8th year of coaching camps (6th with World Pro) and for the last 4 years has been an assistant to the head instructor at the majority of the World Pro camps in western Canada. Scott has also taught more than 300 one on one session at the World Pro facility in Calgary, Ab.. During the season Scott plays for the Iowa State University Cyclones (Div. I ACHA). He also acts as a representative for our school in the United State Midwest. Scott has been volunteering with Ames minor hockey association. Also, Scott volunteered at our 1st Ames, Iowa camp that took place in June 2011, and his help was essential in making the camp a big success

Brendan Koch
Junior Instructor

Brendan has been training with World Pro Goaltending for the last 2 years and has for many years instructed  at various goaltending schools in Calgary. Brendan's experience training goaltending has been very helpful to our full time staff and he has been an important member of our 2011 minor hockey evaluations staff. During the hockey season Brendan helps out with minor hockey clinics and other sessions with minor hockey associations.

Gerry Festa
Junior Instructor - Summer Season

 

Gerry is one of World Pro’s first students having been involved with our school for for the last 10 years. Gerry brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our camps and training facility. After 5 seasons in the WHL and 3 with the UBC Thunderbirds where he graduated with a degree in Psychology, Gerry played Pro hockey last year for the CHL Missouri Mavericks. With the Mavericks he posted a record of 5-4-2 with 1 shutout and GAA of 2.88.
